Classification of epileptic seizures
a) Generalized Seizures : It consists of generalized seizures with chewing motions and loss of consciousness and include:
1- Generalized tonic-clonic seizures
2- Non convulsive seizures or absence seizures
2- Non convulsive seizures or absence seizures
b) Unilateral Seizures: Involve one entire side of the body.
c) Partial or focal seizures.
Mechanism of action of antiepileptic drugs: They decrease electrical excitability at the neurons and blockage of sustained high frequency repetitive firing (SRF).
